What you find in most television showrooms, sports bars, and casinos are flat wall mounted, or recessed to be even with the wall. This will make your television look much like a painting hung on the wall, in that it will only jut out one inch, and won’t interfere with traffic patterns in any way. This is an excellent solution for very small rooms.
If your walls are flat and you need to mount your television high on the wall, you will need a tilting wall bracket. If you have a lot of sunshine and a flat screen TV, you may have to deal with reflection, which can be irritating. By being able to tilt your television by as much as fifteen degrees, you can usually reduce the glare and get a much more desirable picture.
Some tilt TV wall mounts will also swivel, which makes them the most attractive and commonly used for standard sized televisions. Once you get into the really large sets, over forty inches, you will need a heavy duty bracket, and they don’t usually swivel, though you can have them custom made for oversized TVs.
The swivel and tilt brackets allow you to not only tilt the television up and down, but also to swing it from side to side. When you are working out on your exercise equipment in the corner of your bedroom, turn the television towards yourself and you will probably find yourself exercising for longer periods of time!
