The Argument for Small and Portable Lcd Televisions: Why Buy Them?

When something becomes smaller, a whole new set of possibilities for its use emerge. Just think of what you can do with a 9-inch portable LCD television. It’s pure TV entertainment wherever you are. It allows you to enjoy your favorite TV program at home, at the park, while waiting for a friend in a coffee shop, basically every place you may be. But if you ask me, the best place would be in your bed. Just imagine when you’re feeling lazy and you just want to stay longer in bed. Just reach for your portable LCD TV, switch it on, and you can watch the latest news while comfortably lying in your bed.

Now that’s total entertainment and comfort in one package.

However, if you are not the sort who likes to go outside a lot, a small LCD TV, those that range from 15 to 24 inch screen televisions, may be the best choice for you. You could easily figure out where to put those small LCD screens. You can put one in the living room, kitchen or dining room so you can watch TV whenever you’re in either of those rooms. You could put one inside a mini-library so you can have TV background whenever you’re studying or doing a little research.

Don’t let its small size mislead you. A small LCD TV can still be the centerpiece of your home video entertainment system, especially if you have a small space. You can conveniently hook it up with a DVD player and for great sounds, of course it has connections for your home theater system. With a small LCD TV it means there is no such thing as a limited space.

Technically speaking, one of the advantages of LCD TVs is the reduced glare coming off of the screen. This can be caused by the finishing that they apply on the screen which are not like the usual CRT and plasma televisions that are just composed of clear glass. Thus, you can put LCD TVs inside areas in your home that are receiving a lot of sunlight.

Disadvantages of Small LCD Televisions

Some LCD televisions, especially the cheaper varieties, exhibits some type of motion blurring. It happens when the animation of the images projected on the LCD screen is too quick to be rendered, resulting in what looks like a blur. This effect is eliminated or at least lessened on higher quality LCD TV units.

Another drawback is the limited viewing angle since LCD screens are usually better when you watch near the center where it’s facing. Watching it from an angle reduces picture quality.

Flat screen televisions do not come cheaply and inexpensively compared to the traditional CRT units. Yes there are a lot of cheaper versions but you should be aware that you always get what you pay for. The cheaper versions usually have poorer image quality and made with flimsy material. They will most likely not last very long.

Portable and small LCD TV flat screens are ideal for many situations but they are also quite frustrating to work with in some situations. They are best for small homes and for mobile entertainment when you’re on the go. They aren’t ideal for those who like big screens and are easily fatigued by watching small ones. It is best to carefully study your need for such a TV before you go buy one.
