Flat screen TV's, I have around $1000, I want the biggest, best for that money. Plasma? LCD? Help?
HD is not that important to me, but I want a bright,sharp picture. I want 46'' on up. I want to be able to hook up my computer to it as a moniter, so what inputs do I look for? Explain the differences between the competing formats i.e. plasma, LCD etc. Best answer gets 10 points….thanks!

Plasma and LCD panels may look similar, but the flat screen and thin profile is where the similarities end. Plasma screens, as its name suggests, uses a matrix of tiny gas plasma cells charged by precise electrical voltages to create a picture. LCD screens (liquid crystal display) are in layman's terms sandwiches made up of liquid crystal pushed in the space between two glass plates. Images are created by varying the amount of electrical charge applied to the crystals. LED TVs are quite new, they use less electricity, they are better for the environment, and i believe the quality is actually pretty good too.

Plasma is an old technology and I would stay away from it. Go with the LCD. If you want a better picture than LCD go with the LED.
