I bought this TV a few months on Amazon and haven’t regretted it since. I was amazed by the packaging the price Amazon provides to its customers. I was forced to buy a new TV when my son bought me a new Blu-Ray player for Christmas. I needed something replace an old 90′s tube TV that I held onto, for whatever reason, and connect a PC too as a secondary monitor.
The features and custom settings you can play around with are astounding. Right out of box you are given an iPod dock that is simply plug and play. Just hook you iPod up and you are instantly given a set of on screen controls that you use to play your music and movies. The only I found inconvenient is that you can’t play the iPod in PC mode, which would have been nice.
The image quality is crisp and extremely sharp. The colors are bright and vibrant. It doesn’t reach as high as 1080p but for the price you pay, and the quality of the image, 720p is hardly as noticeable as a major difference. You will see that image quality is just as good, and sometimes better than, the other major selling the features TV at a higher price. The image really does stand toe-to-toe with some of the higher end TV’s.
Connecting everything to the set was a breeze. When you first turn the TV on you immediately taken through a simple walkthrough process of hooking up your Blu-Ray, DVD play, surround sound, and entertainment units. I had no problem going through the setup and it only took minutes to connect each piece. The set immediately recognized every component on hookup.
Here’s one thing that took me by complete surprise. After I connected my surround sound, during the initial setup, I accidently turned off my receiver. So when I started playing with the channels and checking out my favorite stations, the TV audio was coming out of the internal speakers. I was completely amazed by the sound quality. Now it’s not real surround sound, but wow it really comes close. I actually forget about turning my receiving on sometimes because the sound quality is nice.
I play video games with my younger sons and they love to play Nintendo Wii. The Wii’s max resolution is only 720p which is perfect for this TV. We play the tennis game that came with Wii and the image is extremely sharp. The Mario game is also very crisp and clear. Like I said it’s very comparable to the higher end TV’s at 1080p. When I was at BestBuy and Walmart I couldn’t tell the difference. Don’t let the specs fool you.
This TV is recommended for somebody looking for something to place in a medium sized room that will also hook up additional components. It’s meant to be used in an entertainment setup but for a more compact setting. If you are looking for an inexpensive setup that blows away much of the competition then this TV is for you. The price is right and the quality is extremely high.
