Would It Be Too Risky to Get Led Tv Because It is a New Technology?

I know LED is just a different flavor of LCD but then again neo Plasma is just a different type of plasma and Panasonic have problems with color flicker and blacks turning to grey (so bad there is even a class action against them) and the other 2 plasma players in Australia – Samsung and LG – don't seem to have a very good rep and lots of bad reviews of their TVs. Also, they too have reduced power consumption of their plasmas recently and so their TVs are also "new technology".

Samsung is a market leader in LED and there are numerous complaints their LED TVs suffer from annoying dark patches in the corners.

This leaves me with the choice of Sony Bravera LCD (very safe option but not nearly as good picture as plasma) or Sony LED which comes closer to plasma for picture quality (haven't heard anything bad about it but new technology and problems could arise in the future).

What do you think?

Suggestion:

LEDs have been around a long time. They are just becoming cheap and strong enough now to begin to consider for general purpose lighting.

I would have no concern at all about an LED TV.
