Suggestion:
Slight chance its some sort of copy protection..
Flash memory is usually very stable but sometimes it gets an error in the data either from the source or when its burned in. Computers are all about math and just one miscalculation and all heck breaks loose.. You maybe able to play the video on the TV is you burn the data onto a different memory card.
but I would not worry about it one bit. This kinda stuff happens..

perhaps there was a trouble on flash……a short circuit on 5 volts USB……so electronic fuse on tv acted.
