Which Tv is Better for Gaming?

Okay I need lots of help here! Kind of long but please important!

When I first got my PS3 I played on my CRT for about 3 months then I realised I can put my PS3 on my monitor so I did.

At first I was like damn! The quality was fantastic! I used hdmi to dvi and my monitor does have HDCP. I was amazed to see it! The in game text was also very clear to read and all the other problems with gaming on CRT was fixed.

But here is the problem. The other day my dad got a blu ray movie. But he has no blu ray player. So he borrowed my PS3 and used it on the plasma in my living room. Then he had to go out for a couple of hours so I went behind his back and played my PS3 on his plasma. Yeah I forgot to mention, gaming is off limit on it.

Anyways, I popped in Uncharted 2 and HOLY CRAP! The graphics were sweet! 100 times better than the crappy old monitor!

The freaking level of detail and the clarity of that sh!t. Things I didn't realise on the monitor I definitely realised as it just freaking stood out on the plasma! Then I popped in Killzone 2 afterwards and all the problems I had with it on my monitor were gone! The main thing I noticed was that when ever the game had ares with black in it, there were always these very fuzzy pixel like things jumping all over the black area. Also sometimes, this weird outline of stuff with come. It's hard to explain but an example is with MW2 when the IW logo comes up there is this weird circle round it that keeps jumping.

Also in SVR 2010 I use to cndemn its graphics alot! I use to say it didn't look realistic and all that, but was I wrong! On the monitor it looked like freaking paper….not kidding! It was also very jaggy! But dammit that plasma made it look very nice! I saw beads of sweat running down the chracters and all that. I use to see it on the monitor but I had to look very close, but on the T.V. I didn't even have to look, I just immediately noticed it!

So I got several questions here:

1) Is HDCP and HD the same thing? Cause really the thing looks like sh!t on the monitor now

2) Is plasma better than LCD or vice-versa.

No my dad won't let me use his plasma (*****) but anyway he says he'll get me a 32" LCD. But I just wanna know if plasma is better.

I'm thinking of using my savings that I have had for 3 years now to put with my dad's money to get a plasma instead.

So is it worth it blowing away all my money I have been saving so long for the same quality as LCD? Or is it worth the money and is a lot better than LCD?

Lemme know.

Answer:

Which TV would be better actually depends on where you are going to put it.

If you are going to put the HDTV in a well-lit area or room, then an LCD would actually be better.

If the HDTV is going in a darker area or room, then a Plasma will look better there.

A couple of things to look for in an LCD are:

At least a 120Hz refresh rate to reduce or eliminate jittering and stuttering in action sequences (makes the action seem smoother and not like a still picture show.

Ability to show 1080p. This is self-explanitory

For a Plasma, you only need to worry about it's ability to show in 1080p, and that it has the ability to avoid "burn-in" as a Plasma has a 600Hz refresh rate and shows action sequences with no slopiness.

Burn-in is what causes ghosting in Plasma TVs, it is caused by what appears to be an image already "burned" into the screen and shows no matter what is playing. Most Plasma screens now have the ability to clear "burn-in", or take longer for them to appear.

I hope this answers your questions and give you some stuff to think about when you start looking at HDTVs

Good Luck & Good Gaming
