Laptop to Tv – Hdmi Issues?

Hi All,

I have a Panasonic Viera 40" Plasma TV which has 3 HDMI inputs. I also have a Compaq laptop running Windows Vista 32-Bit. The graphics card in the laptop is an NVidia 8200M G.

At one point I have had both the television and laptop linked together via HDMI cable and this has displayed a clone copy of my desktop onto the TV. No problems.

However, there have been some minor changes (updating the NVidia drivers and using a new HDMI cable) and now I am having an issue in getting anything to display on the TV.

Basically, the TV is set to the correct HDMI channel, and the laptop is recognising the TV as an external display and all of the settings I can mess around with, I have messed with. It just WILL NOT display anything at all on the TV and the TV remains unresponsive, almost as though it is receiving no signal whatsoever.

I have tried all of the typical things to check, i.e, changing the cable back to the old one (didnt work), restarting with the cable in (didnt work), deleting the TV and monitor and graphics card from 'Device Manager' and starting from scratch (didnt work) as well as several other things.

I am getting no response from the TV. Would anyone know what may be the cause of this?

I cannot see it being the TV, as it plays my Xbox totally fine with no issues, on the same cable.
I also dont see it being the NVidia drivers.
I dont think it would be the cable, as it appears to work perfectly for the Xbox.

Any ideas?

Suggestion:

with vista
tv on and start laptop should allow windows to find tv and do the work for you
try the nvidia control panel /right click desktop select
advanced mode ,,,,multiple displays
the Fn key and F5/6 key 4 options should appear
windows logo and p key should give you 4 options to view
change the HDMI input
