I'm Looking to Buy a Tv. Should I Buy Lcd or Plasma?

There seems to be a lot of problems with Plasma, especially Panasonic. Can anyone advise me?

Suggestion:

The best one to go for is LED rather than LCD or Plasma. LED is more expensive but the quality is superior to either of the other two.

The modern flat screen TVs are a far cry from their predecessors. The great big box like TVs which have sat ominously in the corner of our living rooms on cabinets and stands, for the past few decades have now been replaced by something slim, sleek and oh so stylish. The picture clarity has been greatly improved with the latest Plasma or LCD screens, and the whole concept is now sleek and contemporary.

Whilst floor stands are available for these new style flat screen TVs, many people prefer to choose the other option of using some type of wall mounting. There are plenty of reasons why this could be right for you too.

Mounting your TV onto a wall opens up the entire room as a potential setting for it, whereas the old larger TV cabinets were usually placed close to the aerial point and where the large piece of furniture would best fit within the room. This was not necessarily the best place for viewing the screen.

Although a basic TV mount will fix it flat against the wall like a picture or a mirror, there are also a large variety of mounts which allow you the freedom to tilt, swivel and adjust the positioning of the screen. This can be extremely helpful if you want to sit in another part of the room, or even in an adjoining room and still see the TV. Many modern mounts actually consist of an extending arm which can be folded neatly against the wall when not in use, but swing out and point in almost any direction for comfortable viewing when necessary. For the real gadget lovers these are also available with electronic remote control, so at the push of a button (or two) you can redirect the screen for the perfect viewing experience. Hi Mal, geet a LCD.

It seems to me, that plasma still have some "kindergarten" problems due to maintaining high quality pictures.

I would prefer a Sony LCD or LG !

Both TV´s deliveres high value for money.

You have not given your price range, some plasmas still suffer the screen burn issue, plasmas are still best for very fast action scenes in movies although lcd have come a long way in the last couple of years. I have recently purchased an lcd after many years of avoiding flat screen tv's (like the plague) of either variety because i did not like the smeary waxy looking pictures they gave from a freeview digital signal but i have to say the Samsung 32" i have just purchased is excellent, i am very hard to please when it comes to tv's and spent a long time looking at various models from all the big names and i have to say the series 5 LC580 from Samsung takes some beating at the price, all sources look good on it and its HD tuner is fab. Standard def looks very good too, i have not used blu ray yet but our old panasonic looks great at its 1080i setting so good that i will not be rushing to get blu ray just yet.

The simple answer to this question is that LED-LCD HDTV’s are the newest technology that is superior to Plasma or LCD in virtually every way. They are thinner, brighter with superior image quality. There is no reason why you should not buy one. The difference between LCD and plasma is a little more difficult to describe as both some features that are better that its competitor and vice versa. If you choose not to buy LED-LCD TV and you strictly want to go with LCD or plasma you will have to take a closer look what is each better at. Check this article out for comparison table.

I can't advise you on a plasma, but I've no complaints when it comes to my LG 42" LF 7700 1080p with trumotion. The movies look so real and the HD quality is fantastic.Even the SD channels look pretty good.
