Suggestion:
If it is a control board issue, which it most likely is, then the board should cost a couple hundred dollars. Add that to the labor cost of a repairman, and you're probably looking at about $400-500 to repair the tv. Maybe a little more. But if it is the PDP (display panel), then you might be looking at a substantially higher cost that might take you into new tv territory. I've been told that repair shops and such won't even replace the display panels because of the cost. Depending on the size of the tv, and maybe the age, contemplating a new tv is not a bad thing to do. Plus, with a new tv, you get a new 1 or 2 year warranty.
