Have a 55" Samsung Led – Should I Get a More Expensive Hdmi?

Hi all, I previously owned a 42" Samsung Plasma which I purchased an amazon basics hdmi cable for and had no problems at all. Picture was great. I recently purchased a 55" Samsung LED tv, model 6000s series, and have been using the same HDMI cable. I'm wondering if I should go with a more expensive quality brand, perhaps with a better copper conductor? The Amazon Basics cable I have was fairly cheap, cost me like 15 bucks or less. I do notice some light distortion on some channels and I run Verizon Fios cable service. Would a newer HDMI enhance these small distortion and pixels I tend to see on some solid colors? (for example, a plain wall may contain some mildly noticeable pixels and distortion). I heard that with a bigger tv comes a requirement for a better quality cable, is this true? If so, any recommendations?

Suggestion:

you do notice a difference in the quality of hdmi cables, i have changed mine a few times in the past year and you do notice the difference

i would highly recommend getting a AUDIOQUEST PEARL hdmi cable due to that cable won the BEST hdmi cable in the what hi-fi 2011 awards

here is the link for the BEST cables and accessories

http://www.whathifi.com/awards/2011/cables-%2526-accessories

and here is the review for that hdmi cable

FOR—Stable images; great colours; impressive detailing; tight, deep sound

AGAINST— Nothing

The attractive Audioquest Pearl sits at the budget end of the HDMI spectrum.

But it’s no slouch: with a full high-speed spec, including 3D capability, audio return channel and Ethernet compatibility, it’s refreshing to say that the Pearl’s a deft performer too.

Images are crisp and stable, with detail springing to life from the off.

Colours, especially skin-tones, are natural, while you also get a wide, far-ranging sound that digs deep when required.

As a first upgrade to your system, the Pearl should be auditioned.

thumbs down PMSL,, i bet those people have NOT changed there hdmi cable so they wont see the difference

I have never really seen that big of a margin of difference between the high end and low end truly unless your using a decent TV in the first place your going to notice a difference more then what the cable is going to do. Yes an expensive TV is going to have a crisper and better picture quality overall then your cheap Mega Store crap. You may pay a bit more for a high end name but those names mean quality and performance. I use the cable my Bluray came with and it seems great to me although I do have high end TV and Bluray both Samsung.

there's really no point in buying a more expensive hdmi cable unless you're worried about corrosion or your cable box/blu-ray player/console are miles away.

gold plating is better than copper when it comes to the fight against corrosion, but gold is way more expensive. also, how long do you plan on keeping this tv? by the time the copper corrodes, odds are that hdmi won't be used at all.

don't know if your tv is 3d or not, but if it is, you'll need hdmi 1.4 or fast data transfer cable.

Don't waste money on new cables. What you are seeing are compression artifacts. This is why I love blu ray, and why blu ray is still the image quality king. All the HD you get, regardless of the cable company, or SAT, downloaded or streamed it's all compressed, all of it.

So it doesn't matter if it says 720p, 1080i or 1080p, the bit rate is lower. In large patches of single color you will see macro blocking, and strange artifacts, lots of false contouring and pixel break up with fast moving action.

There's no difference.

No, signal is digital and if it gets there, it will be perfect. Expensive cables will not change this.
