I have the Westinghouse 32 inch LCD TV Model# SK-32H540S.Purchased for $375 at walmart about 2-3 years ago. I have Comcast Cable hooked up to it I am using HDMI through my HD box and everything was working fine but now I have a PS3 and have that hooked up to the second HDMI port and it seems like when I shut off the PS3 the screen goes blank and then when I switch back to my cable (HDMI1) It still is blank and what I have to do is shut of the cable box and TV then turn them back on before I can get my TV to start showing up again. Also it will sometime happen when using the PS3 and i will either be loading a game or game demo or quitting a game or whatever and the screen will randomly go blank and I will have to shut off the PS3 to get anything back on the screen. So I was wondering what was going on and why this is happening it seems like it has started happening after I got my PS3 which was about 3 weeks ago. I mean everything works and I don't notice and problems with my picture or it's quality, it's just those random things mentioned earlier. So I was wondering what could be happening.
Suggestion:
on the first versions of the HDMI, many times you may have to turn off the TV, or the source to reinitialize the handshake protocol to activate the input port. There are sometimes firmware upgrades from the manufacturers, but I doubt that Westinghouse will offer this to it's customers. From a small search in Google under "Westinghouse HDMI handshake errors" many have found resetting the TV could help. The first way was to turn off the TV and press and hold the power button on the side of the TV for over 10 seconds. This may clear every thing to "out of the box" condition. The second involved was to unplug all inputs and the power cord for over 30 seconds. I'm skeptical this will reset it enough.
