Sony Str-dn1000 – Problems with Hdmi Ports?

I bought this receiver from Richer sounds on Tuesday and at the time they advised me that the instructions are difficult to follow. I have managed to wire everything up ok, but am experiencing problems with getting a picture on my tv when using the HDMI output port. As I understand it to be the case, you are suppose to connect all your HDMI devices to the receiver (upto 4 on this model) then using the HDMI output to connect all your HDMI input devices directly to your tv. My tv is an 37" Toshiba LCD but I cant see that this is the problem. Buit unless I can get a picture through the HDMI connections on the the back of the receiver, I cannot get dolby true HD sound which is why I bought the unit in the first place, help please

Suggestion:

Somewhere in the menu for your tv is a setup for the hdmi cable. You have to enable the hdmi port to accept the signal.
