Suggestion:
This sounds like a problem at the input of your TV, not the TV itself. You know the Comcast box is good, and you know that the DVD player works okay when you've connected it to one of the auxiliary inputs on the TV.
I would first want to try connecting the Comcast box to the same input where you had the DVD player. The Comcast box works and the DVD player works, so that *must* give you a good picture. I would then experiment with the other inputs (where you normally connect the cable box, as well as others) to see which of them is causing a problem. It could also be a connecting cable issue, or one of the jacks. One way or another, this will be solved thru the cabling or the jacks.
