Problem with My Sony Lcd Projection Tv?

We have a 3 yr old Sony projection TV, KDS-60A2020. My GF had used the TV in the morning with no difficulty. I got home turned it on, the green LCD light kept blinking for about 30 seconds and then turned red. The TV never gave a warning that the bulb was going to go out. Upon reading the manual, it stated to call the sony service repairman. I was wondering if there was anything on my end I could check. (ie would I be able to take out the bulb and accurately tell if it was broken, with my untrained eye, or reset a switch I was unaware of ) Do not want to call a repair person, taking this TV to a service facility would give me a hernia. Any suggestions.. Thanks!

Suggestion:

There is nothing that you can do, call the repair man.
