I got my SAMSUNG 40INCH FHD LCD TV 3 series (I bought what I thought was a 5 series LA40C530, the shop demo and the box said 5, but the actual tv in the box was a 3 series. The store said they will sort this out) LCD yesterday and I connected my external harddrive to it through the usb port. It's a 2TB hdd with an NTFS file system. The problem is it didn't pick it up at all. Said it couldn't find a usb device. I tried a 2gb FAT32 flash and it worked fine.
Could the file system be the problem? And if so how can I work around it without having to reformat the hdd as I have too much stuff to backup onto anything else.
Thanks in advance.
Suggestion:
Format the 2TB to FAT32. That is your only option. TV's do not recognize NTFS file system, as that is patented by Microsoft and then the TV companies would have to pay MS in order to have NTFS file system code embedded inside TV. FAT16 and FAT32 are more generic file systems, also used by MS, but are recognized and used by a wide variety of electronics.
