Lcd or Inverter or Flex Cable ?

Hello everyone,
I am having a really annoying problem with my Dell Vostro 1400 Laptop. Last month all of a sudden my computer screen turn pink color and black. And the computer did not boot up ever. I tried to get image from my LCD TV via VGA cable but I could't. As a result I have changed my motherboard, my computer works fine right now but not the screen, I am using my laptop with VGA connection with the LCD TV. The laptop LCD looks white color, and some gray stripes. I don't know how but something happened to my motherboard and my LCD at the same time. I am sending a link below that you can see my laptop screen while it is working .My question is :
1) How can I be sure the current problem is because of LCD or Inverter or Flex Cable ?
2) If I need to change my LCD, do I need to buy exactly the same one ?
3) How can I be sure about my busted LCD resolution since I am using my laptop via LCD TV ?
4)What might have caused this motherboard & lcd problem at the same time ?
Thank you very much….

Suggestion:

If an external display is fine then then it is the laptop display, inverter, or cable.
If no image with an external display then Main board.
If the image on the laptop is pink/black (can see image but not lighted) it is the backlight and 'sometimes' an inverter card will fix.
But if that doesn't then it is LCD display time.
My bet is the LCD. I know not cheap but ebay it.
