Help! Stuttering Video Playback on Lcd Tv from Computer?

I have a situation with the new TV(LG 47LD650). On my old plasma I could play back 720p .mkv videos via VLC from my computer no sweat. Now on my new TV there is a little bit of a stutter or lag every so often. Its very subtle and can hardly be seen by someone not paying attention to it but it is very annoying. I do not have this problem with my playback from the ps3 blu-ray movies. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
