Whats the difference in these two TVS (left and right)
LCD—————–Plasma
1920 x 1080—-1024 x 768
40"——————42"
100Hz————-600hz
1080p————–720p
1000000:1——–2000000:1
Mostly I use my Xbox 360 and think of getting this new HD freeview thing.
If you could tell me the benefits or visible differences in Contrast, HZ and resolution that would be a huge help. For example 600hz-100hz and 1mill-2mill seems a huge difference.
Maybe some advise on what one of these features i should be looking for.

You really compare apples and oranges.
The LCD has definitely more pixel resolution, but at 42" inch you may not see any difference.
100 hz vs 600 hz is irrelevant an dmeasures different things in each TV. Plasma has definitely better response time.
Contrast is measured differently in both TVs (True contrast in Plasma vs dynamic (bogus) contrast in LCD). It means Plasma has better blacks.
In terms of picture quality, i would go with a plasma, but since you plan to play games, I suggest you go with the LCD so that you don't have to worry with burn -in.
It is always good to go to a store and look at them yourself. There is more than specs in a TV.
