Suggestion:
There's no huge difference in the picture between a conventional LCD set and an LED set. The only difference between the two is that the "LED" TV uses light emitting diodes for the backlight instead of fluorescent lamps. That's a good thing since the LEDs won't eventually burn out, but the fluorescents will generally last so long that the TV will expire from something else before the lamps burn out. So if cost is a big factor, get the cheaper LCD with fluorescent backlighting.
Plasma has certain advantages if you are a very serious gamer — no blurring on very fast action. But a good LCD with at least a 120 Hz refresh rate (100 in Europe) and a response time not more than 6 ms. will be satisfactory. Check those specs on anything you might want to buy.
