Suggestion:
Plasma tvs use gas inbetween two layers of glass and then the picture is produced by the reaction to electricity.
LCD TVs use layers of Red, Green and Blue pixels and Florescent light bulbs light the picture up.
LCD is better in a bright room with light, Plasmas is more suited to dark rooms as a light source will reflect on the screen.
Plasma produces a wider range of colours and is marginally sharper on outline details. LCD consumes less energy and produces a more natural looking picture on some scenes.
Sometimes models of TV vary from store to store. In the uk for example, most stores have Samsung LExxCx50/80 which is the correct model. Currys, Dixons, PC World, Tesco etc sell them as a LExxCx30 which generally lack the Freeview HD tuner and one less HDMI input, which is why when you look at them at a glance they appear cheaper.

LCD TV delivers sharper and smoother image quality than a Plasma TV.
