but the screen is black but u can hear sound it is a 27 inch. how much would that cost for repair? or should i just buy a new tv
Suggestion:
First thing to do is check it with different inputs: over-the-air antenna, DVD player, satellite or cable box, game box, whatever you have. Black screen with just one input? You've partially solved it. Bad source, cable, or jack.
Black screen with all inputs? That little set is almost certainly an LCD, and you've almost certainly lost your backlight. Either the fluorescent lamp is failed, or there's a fault in the circuitry that powers or controls it.
It's a job for the repair shop, and it won't be cheap. You'll most likely find that investing the same money in a new set with the latest features makes better sense.
