Hi All, What is the Key Difference Between Plasma Tv & Lcd Tv?

What is the key difference between PLASMA tv & LCD tv? Which is better out of them (quality & durability wise)? I want to but 40" or 42" TV please advise which one better (PLASMA or LCD & which BRAND especially)? Thanks to all!

Answer:

Instead of me explaining the difference go online to Home Theater Magazine. They have the pro and con on Plasma, LCD and LED tvs. Plasma is still considered to have a better picture quality than the LCD and LED tvs in the market. The best over all flat panel tv in the market today is the Pioneer Elite KURO, but it is expensive. You can read the September issue in which they featured a Plasma tv made by Panasonic 42" and compared it to a Sony, LG, Toshiba and Vizio LCD tvs. The Panasonic Plasma was the top choice and the only model to have a THX certification for video quality. You will also notice that Panasonic has a tv in each of the price category from the entry level to the high end, while Samsung and Sony does not. Other brands did not even get mentioned, brands like Toshiba, LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio. My first Plasma a Pioneer 43", which I purchase in December of 2002 is still running strong and used daily, while my LCD tv purchased in December 2006 is already burned out. Hope this will help you out.

The way it displays.

Plasma uses chemical gases to project light. LCD uses a backlight.

They both have their pros and cons but..
I'm gonna go ahead and say plasma's better but slighty more expensive.
