For your PS3 intended purpose you stated a Plasma is your BEST answer without a doubt. Plasma handles "Fast Motion" better than any other HDTV to date. Gaming and Pro Sports are the 2 best examples.
You didn't mention a price range or size of TV, so consider this… Plasma is only going to be available in larger sizes like 42" and bigger. So depending on your budget this may play a factor.
if you can spend about $1500 than get the 50 inch Viera Panasonic for about $1500. With Pioneer exiting the Plasma market the Panasonic is the best Plasma you can buy.
If your budget is under $1500 then see what you can get for your dollar in your area. Inch for inch Plasma will cost more than an LCD, but the Plasma is by far a better TV.
