Plasma Vs. Lcd, What Are the Pros and Cons of Each?

which uses less power?
which has better picture quality?
which has a longer and more durable life?

Answer:

here are pros & cons of each

Pros of Plasma
- Better contrast ratio
- better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth,
- better motion tracking (response time)
- more availability in very large screen sizes.

Cons of Plasma
- more susceptible to burn-in (although this is not as much of a factor now, due to technology improvements in the past few years)
- more heat generation (as well as more power consumption)
- screen glare in brightly lit rooms
- heavier weight, and more delicate to ship.
Good brand that I would recommend for Plasma is Panasonic or Samsung

Pros of LCD
- LCD television advantages include no burn-in susceptibility
- cooler running
- less screen glare, more functional at high altitudes
- longer display life (although improvements are being made in Plasma screen life)
- looks better in brightly lit rooms
- less power consumption than Plasma.
Cons of LCD
- Lower contrast ratio
- not as good rendering deep blacks
- not as good at tracking motion (although this is improving, especially with the implementation of 120Hz refresh rates (and some now offer 240Hz) on higher-end models).
Good brand for LCD that I would recommend is Samsung or Sony

LCD has no image burn-in problems to consider
Power Consumption Plasma TV s require thousands of sub pixels to be lit while LCD TV s use a fluorescent backlighting technique. In summary LCD TV s typically use half the power (watts) of Plasma

Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the pro and con for both. They review just about every tv they can get there hands on. Plasma is still considered to have the best picture quality than the LCD or LED tvs. They are also less expensive when you go by the same size. You will also notice that Panasonic has a tv recommend in each of the price category of entry level to the high end, while Samsung, Sony and Toshiba (just recently have one, Jan. issue) does not. Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. Panasonic also has a blu ray disc player in the entry level and mid range. Hope this will help you out.

PS pretty much said it all, only with the exception that Samsung plasmas aren't very good. They produce very grainy pictures even when there isn't fast motion.

One great brand he missed on the plasma list is Pioneer (best TV on the market period). Panasonic is good like he already stated.
