Plasma:
- better picture quality (usually)
- usually less expensive
- doesn't last as long (shorter life span)
- uses more energy and gets hotter
- still pictures can burn into the screen after long periods of time (don't pause a video game/dvd and leave it for a while (no, I have not experienced that (sarcasm))).
- Screen is glossy and reflects light quite well, which is bad if there are a lot of lights or windows in the room…
- older technology
LCD:
- long life span
- cooler and uses less energy
- newer technology
- images won't burn
- more expensive (usually)
- screen is not glossy at all
I recently bought a 55inch LCD for $800 on sale, which might even cost less then a plasma of that size. I have a big window in that room and doesn't effect it at all. Overall, I would recommend the LCD over the plasma, especially if you are concerned with screen glare.
