Panasonic plasma vs Toshiba LCD?

Hey i was planning on getting a new t.v during the Boxing day sales but cant decide between two t.v's.
One is a panasonic plasma 50'' HD with 1366 x 768 resolution
The second is a Toshiba LCD 46'' HD with 1920 x 1080 resolution
They are both the same price but the only thing im thinking is should i sacrifice 4'' for a higher resolution? also is LCD a lot better than plasma?
Much thanks for all of your help

Whoa! Tough question….. You hit on two of my favorite brands!

What model is the Toshiba? That would influence the answer quite a bit. And same for the Panasonic plasma.

Overall, the plasma will give you better performance during fast moving content because of the 600hz sub field drive. If the Toshiba is one of the higher end models, it should have a feature called Clear Scan that will help level the field on that. The plasma would still be a better choice for sports, action movies and other fast moving content.

How is the light in your room? If it's a room that gets a lot of direct sunlight, the LCD will be better. Plasma units have glass screens and they can glare. But Panasonic has anti-glare, anti-reflective filters they put on their screen in some of their models. Now you see why what models are involved would be helpful.

We have a 50" Panasonic plasma and are very happy with it. Hubby loves it for sports! I personally prefer the warmer, more natural color palette that plasma generates but the higher end Toshiba units do a nice job too!

A bit more info would be ever so helpful!
