I have a 42-inch samsung plasma.
All of sudden, every cable/tv channel has a green tint.(I can still see all the elements–people/background/etc. but everything is just green/white. like b&w …) I know it's not the cable provider and it's also not the cable wire itself.
DVD works just fine.
What can possibly be the problem?
p,s, i spent around 2 hours to adjust the tv with no success…

Suggestion:

did you check the the Tint G/R option? I just got a 50" samsung plasma myself. I like it but the frame rate isn't as smooth as i had seen it in the store. 600 hz subfield. I have HD cable, but it still isn't as smooth, but the picture is fantastic.

I have the Sharp LCD, and my father wants to trade me for his Panasonic Plasma. The distance is just right for either a 50 or a 42, I watch a lot of TV (some HD satellite, Blu-Rays, SD TV), also play games often. There is no problem with direct sunlight. Both models are pretty old, the LCD being the 60hz kind and plasma being in the day where only rich people had them.

Suggestion:

Most TV broadcasts are 1080i, so you're not likely to see any difference between 1080i and 1080p unless you're watching Blu-Ray discs. Even then, you probably won't see a significant difference on that size screen at a normal viewing distance. Plasma TVs generally have higher contrast ratios than LCD TVs, and according to Consumer Reports, contrast makes more difference than resolution in the image quality. I wouldn't hesitate to take the 50" Panasonic if it's in good working order.

I have a plasma tv that recently started showing red and/or green lines horizontally through the screen. I have been contemplating repair or purchasing a new tv. How much would it cost to repair a plasma with this problem?

Suggestion:

If it is a control board issue, which it most likely is, then the board should cost a couple hundred dollars. Add that to the labor cost of a repairman, and you're probably looking at about $400-500 to repair the tv. Maybe a little more. But if it is the PDP (display panel), then you might be looking at a substantially higher cost that might take you into new tv territory. I've been told that repair shops and such won't even replace the display panels because of the cost. Depending on the size of the tv, and maybe the age, contemplating a new tv is not a bad thing to do. Plus, with a new tv, you get a new 1 or 2 year warranty.

I got, what I thought, was an awesome deal on a 42" plasma LG (model # 42PQ30) . After watching/using the TV for two days….I turned it on the next morning and the screen was filled with a red haze. I turned the TV off and back on and it was still there. It finally went away by itself after about 60-120 seconds. The problem continued the following day and took longer to go away. Could this be a result of something I did…? and is it possibly something simple and easily fixed?
Secondly…I'm concerned as to wether I will be able to take it back and get it replaced. It was an open box deal, but you still get the 30 day guarentee. I don't even think they have anymore of them..and certainly not an open box one for the same price i got my at…*sigh*
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated-Thank you!

Suggestion:

Get it back to the store ASAP!!!!!!!

Don't over think it, just do it.

If the store has no more of them then haggle with them on a comparable TV. They DO NOT want to return your money since they already have it.

It can cost up to around £600 and would preferably be a good make such as SONY Panasonic or Samsung etc.

Suggestion:

Any thing panasonic would fit the bill very reliable had one of there original plasma screens since release day and not one problem sd freeview still working and doesn't have the colour running while watching the footie and stuff,

Try this one I've got one good picture freeview (which isn't available in my area yet ) and its in your price range, i choose out an lcd tv because if you play the odd video game or hook up to a pc burn in is less likely to occur with lcd.
This tv also has 100hz technology so you will keep up with the fastest of images from formula 1 to red bull air race.

Hope this helps…

This tv also has 100hz technology so you will keep up with the fastest of images from formula 1 to red bull air race.

Hope this helps…

does anybody know if plasma televisions react to domestic electrical switching or have i got a problem with my electrics?

Suggestion:

Hello, A few early model Plasma TVs did suffer from mains born interference, if you have a later model TV say two years or so old and you get bad interference problems then I would say you need your mains electricity checking, things that cause impulse interference are heavy loads on timers like water immersion heaters, air compressors, air con units and some older freezers and fridges cause problems too, you could buy two interference suppressors ferrite rings and install them at each end of your TVs power cord this could help, or you could buy some varistors and install these in the mains plugs of the equipment you suspect is causing the interference, some people with your problem use extension sockets fitted with mains filters, manufactures like Belkin and MK make them you could try one of these first, I would recommend that you get your electrics checked bad interference like this could be a sign that something is arcing badly and could cause a fire, best to be safe I think, good luck.

I am looking for an HDTV, and came across a problem. My price range is anywhere from $450-$500, and I saw two different TVs that were in that price range that I liked. One TV was a 32" Sony Bravia/ 1080p / 60hz / LCD TV priced at $494.99. The other is a 42" Insignia/ 720p / 600hz / Plasma screen TV, priced at $449.99. So what I was wondering which is better? A 32" LCD TV with 1080p and 140,000:1 contrast ratio, or a 42" Plasma screen with 720p and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio?

Suggestion:

Sony is a better make of TV, however plasmas are better than LCDs. If it were me, I would personally go with the Insignia 42" plasma. It has a better contrast ratio, and better refresh rate for a decent price. Its only 720p but that is still good quality. You will get better performance out of the plasma than you would from the LCD.

well, first I'm sorry for my english and I wish you will understand it. I have 2 very complicated problems.

Ok so lately I bought HD DVD, and I plugged it in my plasma (which is HD ready) but I have some problems with the movies.

The first problem (less important):
Most movies of HD quality are heavy and weigh more than 4 giga. I have a lot od movies and I do not want to burn every movie that I wanna see. So I bought a big USB flash drive that can be plugged in the DVD. But this stupid DVD supports only USB flash drive of fat32 file system that forbid to put a file that weigh more than 4 giga. So I need to split these movies, and because of their high quality so, most of the softwares that splits movies do not keep the quality the same, and this process takes a long time.

The second problem (main problem):
I tried to do the splitting of a movie but I still had problems, that are actually more disturbing me. I tried a HD movie in MKV format, but when I tried to start it nothing happened in the DVD and it didn't work even it was HD movie. In addition, I tried to play another movie in AVI format, but it worked only with the sound and the TV showed just a blue screen.
Somebody knows why do the movies not work?
What are the ends of Full HD and HD ready movie files? And why my TV does not read the movies? Could it be because of television-quality is not full HD and just HD ready?

Thanx for the helpers…

Suggestion:

The movies don't work because they're the wrong format.Try converting your movies to mpeg 1 or divx
for your USB flash drive.

I have a Sony Playstation 3 and a Panasonic [TH-58PX600U] Plasma TV.

The problem is when I play Resident Evil 5 it has no audio. If I play Red Dead Redemption the audio plays good until there are cutscenes where there is no voice at all. Also this problem started occuring when my TV kept displaying these games in 720p not 1080i. I've lost the manual for the TV and don't know how to fix this also I don't know if this is due to the TV or the PS3. My friend accidentally messed up the settings with the two electronics and its working well again except for the audio problem that began to occur.

Suggestion:

I don't know how to address your problem since I don't have either one of the items you're referring to, but I do know that a large percentage of companies place a copy of their products' operating manuals on the internet for the convenience of persons who've misplaced or lost or threw theirs away. Here's your TV's manual:

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/TH42PX600U.PDF

Good luck in finding the solution in there (if the problem is with your TV). One way to start troubleshooting the problem to begin with is to put your game into a friend's setup and see if everything works OK. This will tell you whether or not your problem is in the game or in one of your other two components in your setup. If it's not in the game, then you switch out each of your other two items one at a time to figure out which of those is causing the problem. Then after figuring out which component is causing the problem, you'll have to troubleshoot that individual component, testing different settings individually.

Hope this all helps.
