whats the difference between a plasma tv and an lcd?

Which one provides better picture quality and which one is more reliable? im looking into buying a flat screen 42" and up and also not sure what brand. what would you recommend?

People are saying you can't see the difference between 720p and 1080p unless you get something 50" and higher, while others are saying everything will be only 1080p soon, so my question is, is there much difference between two entry-level 42" plasma HDTVs, such as these two from Panasonic?

Do Camcorders work in all countries?

This might seem a silly question but I am wanting to buy an expensive camcorder (probably the Canon S100) for around $800.

Will it make a difference if I buy it in the USA and bring it to the UK? A lot of the models refer to NTSC camcorders but does this even matter for todays LCD and Plasmas screens?
