What is the difference between LED, LCD & Plasma TV's?

What is the difference between LED, LCD & Plasma TV's?

Suggestion:

what is the difference between a PLASMA tv and LCD TV?

Plasma is best for movies but never use it to play video games and never use it for a computer monitor because images burn in really easy on Plasma's. Press pause on your game and leave it for 2 hours and you will have a permanent image burned on the screen. LCD meaning Liquid crystal dynamics is good but not as sharp as plasma but it's prefect for video games and you can use it as a computer monitor. Images don't burn into the screen on LCD's TV it's the same technology they use on regular LCD computer monitors.

I would recommend LCD by far. You can't really tell the difference in picture quality both are HD and very sharp but the LCD can do much more

what is the difference between Plasma and LCD TV?

and is there a difference on quality from buying it at an eletronics store rather than at a department type store?

Suggestion:

Better to get a 1080p LCD tv or a 720p plasma tv?

Trying to decide what tv to get for my dorm. I want to get around a 40''-42'' hdtv. But do to my price range, around 400-500 tops, i obviously cant get top of the line. I know plasma is usually better than lcd. But if I went plasma, i have to go 720p (cheaper). But I also hear that an LCD under 42'' is just as good as a plasma (its the bigger tvs where you can see the difference). And if I went LCD i could get 1080p (price is reasonable).
SO….
Should I go with better technology (plasma and 720p) or better resolution (LCD 1080p). Or…at 42'', will it even matter??

and by the way, any ideas (links) shoot em my way!
thanks!
