Plasma vs LCD or LED which would be best?

I'm going to renovating a room into an entertainment center that will be dimly lit so Plasma seems to be the way to go but do certain Plasma T.V.'s dim or darken when you move around the room and you are not sitting in front of the television? Also are there any LCD or LCD/LED televisions that do not have screens that darken when you are not sitting directly in front of the television? What kinds of television does not have that darkening effect when you don't sit directly on front? I'm looking for a television that is 42' to 50' if that helps.

I am not huge on tvs but I am buying a new one for my living room to hang above my mantle. I am buying a sanyo 42" either plasma for 450 or LCD for 550. Why is LCD 100 more? Is it going to last longer? Please explain simply I do not understand all this high tech stuff lol

LCD vs. Plasma TV Which should I choose?

I am going to purchase a television for my parents for Father's Day to replace their small, ancient set that no longer works. I was planning to spend between $400 and $700 and I have found two models that both sound very good.

The first model that I looked at is a Samsung. It is a 42" plasma screen, with 720p resolution and a 600 Hz refresh rate.
