First off, both selection you choose are not Plasma tv, this is an LCD you are looking at. Plasma TV starts at the 42" to 150" (but you are not going to see any larger than a 65" at the store). Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD tvs. You will notice that Panasonic Plasma tvs has a tv recommended in each of the price category of entry level to the high end, while Sony (LCD and LED), Samsung (LCD, LED and Plasma), and Toshiba (LCD and LED) does not (December issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. Plasma is still consider having the best picture quality of all tvs. Last July (H.T.M.) it featured the Panasonic 42" Plasma and compared it to a Sony, LG, Toshiba and Vizio LCD tvs. The Panasonic was the top choice and the only model to have a THX (higher standard on video quality for the tv) certification. Also keep in mind that you can not see the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen size smaller than a 46". Hope this will help you out.
Well, neither link points to a plasma. I, myself, have a Pioneer Elite plasma. I've seen a lot of LCD tvs and they just don't compare. If you went with an LED model, don't get the edge lit Samsung, but go for the backlit model.
Take a look at CNET for television reviews.
As for the two models you cited, go with the Samsung.
Samsung is better.
