What is the Best Way to Hook My Tv Up to the Internet?

Here is what I have: In one room I have my computer with a wireless DLink router. I bought the wireless router so I can use my laptop around the house. In another room I have the 50" plasma TV/surround sound/home entertainment stuff hooked up to DirecTv.

If it's even possible, I would like to be able to play videos on my computer, (WMP, Real Player, youtube, or whatever), and send them to my TV in the other room so I can watch them with just a few clicks. I don't want to have to bother with converting files, burning DVD's, or running cables from one room to the other.

For awhile I had an XBox 360 hooked up to the TV and I was able to watch some videos. Not all the videos formats would play thru the XBox. I gave the XBox to my kid when he moved out and I probably won't be buying another one.

Any ideas are welcomed.

Suggestion:

Personally, I use AVS Video Converter for all video conversion, I used it to convert all my DVD rips from .avi to .mp4's for my iPod. Here's some of the features from their site:
Convert Video between Almost Any Formats:
HD Video (inc. AVCHD, MPEG-2 HD and WMV HD), TOD, MOD, M2TS, AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc.), MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG-1, 2, 4, H.263, H.264, Real Video, DVR-MS, MKV, FLV etc.
