What is the Best Hd Widescreen Tv?

I want the biggest tv with the best quality picture possible. Preferably under $1000, but I'm flexible. I don't want the kind that has a bulb that can go it inside and cost hundreds though. I think thats plasma, but I'm kind of ignorant about televisions.
