1- I know that Plasma TV's have come far enough to where burn-ins aren't a huge issue, but still present. Should I really keep up with this 200 hour conditioning? It's not enjoyable to watch things in such dark pictures.
2- If I continue with it, will it be O.K to turn up the settings when it's done? I like to keep the contrast at 100, Sharp at 75, tint at 0, and the rest at 50. Right now everything except tint is at 50.
3- How long would it take for static images in games (or watermarks on TV) to cause a burn-in or ghost?
Additional advice for providing best maintenance to my TV is appreciated.
Suggestion:
First step is getting a quality plasma, which you have done.
Conditioning is good, but you aren't going to hurt it if you want to turn it up during the day. You really won't, especially on a modern plasma.
Don't worry about having it "too bright" after conditioning. This is only a concern if you are really trying to stretch its lifetime way, way way into the future. Plasmas haven't really been around long enough to stress this though and get any solid answers. I sold TV's for years and we had plasmas on full bright, all day, every single day for years. We had some displays actually stay around that long too without changing models.
Burn ins will happen anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 days. It completely depends on what the image is, how old the tech is, the quality of the tv, etc. In your case, hardly a worry. If you have it hooked up to a computer don't allow it to be on for hours on a desktop, if you play movies don't leave it on the menu, etc (although it has built in functions to help with this). Burn ins are becoming a thing of the past.
Don't spill anything on the tv. There isn't a whole lot of maintenance with modern TV's.
