Lcd or Plasma Tv Which Do I Choose?

Need to replace a CRT tv and cannot decide if plasma or lcd is best. Thoughts welcomed.

Answer:

Keep in mind that Plasma tv starts at the 42" and bigger, while LCD starts at a smaller screen. Also you can not see the difference in 720P and 1080P in screen size smaller than a 46". The only source of 1080P are the blu ray disc movies and some video games, tv programs in HD are only in the 720P and dvd are at 480P. Plasma is still considered to have the best picture quality of any tvs today. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end, while Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not. Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. If you read yahoo question of tv problems you will notice that 95% of the tvs are LCD and of those 95% are from off brands. Hope this will help you out.

The biggest issue to consider is this:
Plasma screens will give you a better image quality, but they can get screen burn-in.
If you leave an image on the screen for an hour or so it will faintly remain on the screen. This could be a whole screen image if you paused a movie, or just a portion of the screen such as a life bar from a video game. It takes weeks for this to happen to an LCD.
Thankfully it is not permanent with plasma screens, and the image will fade away with use, but it is something to be aware of.

There are other issues too, but they are relatively minor.
To be completely honest, you would want to make your decision based on other issues, such as price, size, connections, and even features. Between LCD and Plasma, both technologies have come pretty far and will give you a good image.
