Generally speaking Plasmas are better for sports and movies/video games with fast motions. LCDs generally range from 8ms response time (60hz) to 4-6ms(120hz) to 2ms(240hz). 60hz is standard and to get 120hz and 240hz cost extra. The response time is important for fast moving scenes to process motions and prevent motion blurring. Plasmas generally have .001ms response time standard and virtually no motion blurring. In addition plasmas are known for having deeper blacks and more contrast ratio generally just a better quality picture.
Panasonic is the leader in plasma technology so you will not be disappointed.
